KONG’ASIS CONSTITUENCY — Hon. Kapyagon Brian has called on members of the Committee on ICT and National Guidance to prioritise Uganda’s digital transformation through improved access to technology and stronger regulation of the digital sector.
Speaking during a two-day committee induction, Kapyagon urged the committee to promote the digitisation of government services, strengthen data protection mechanisms and enhance enforcement of intellectual property rights.
He also joined fellow committee members in emphasising the need to decentralise innovation hubs so that young people and innovators across the country can access opportunities and resources.
The members further highlighted the importance of expanding affordable broadband access and strengthening parliamentary oversight of national ICT programmes.
According to Kapyagon, such measures are essential to ensuring that Uganda’s digital transformation delivers tangible benefits to citizens across the country.
