PARLIAMENT — T’oo County Member of Parliament Hon. Kiti Peter has urged the Ministry of Works and Transport to prioritise the Chepsukunya–Kirigi–Bukwo road for rehabilitation, warning that its current poor condition is making access difficult despite its importance to security and community connectivity.

Addressing Parliament, Kiti appealed to the Minister for Works and Transport to include the road among those earmarked for improvement, noting that it serves as a critical route for both public transport and security operations.

The legislator, however, called for immediate maintenance of the road as the government plans for its rehabilitation, saying its current condition is making it difficult for motorists and other road users to access the area.

Kiti also raised concern over alleged encroachment on government land reserved for an airfield at Kyebusugunya.

He called on the responsible authorities to protect the land and fence it off to prevent further encroachment, arguing that safeguarding the site would be important in efforts to secure the establishment of the airfield in the future.

The MP’s appeal places renewed focus on the need to improve road infrastructure linking communities in the Sebei sub-region while protecting land reserved for strategic transport facilities.

Government action on the two issues could help improve accessibility, support security operations and preserve land intended for future aviation infrastructure.
