Bukwo: Bukwo District LCV Chairman, Hon. Chesol Tom, says he will meet officials from the Uganda Wildlife Authority, UWA, to address concerns raised by communities living around Kapkoros.
The concerns include restrictions on women collecting firewood from the forest, the killing of animals in Kapkoros, and what residents describe as unnecessary firing of gunshots in the area.
Hon. Chesol says consultations with UWA officials are ongoing, after which the district leadership will sensitise the community on the agreed way forward.
He called on residents to prepare for possible changes and work together with authorities to address the challenges affecting communities around the forest.
Meanwhile, Hon. Chesol says a district road grader that was taken to Jinja for an engine overhaul is expected to return soon.
He says once the machine is back, road works will resume, including the Amanang and Kapchebai roads, as well as other sub-county roads and projects that were not completed in the previous financial year.
The LCV chairman says the district is at an advanced stage of preparing its machinery to ensure road works continue across the district.
Hon. Chesol has also announced that members of the Bukwo District Service Commission have recently been sworn in.
He says the commission will soon advertise available jobs in the district, urging residents to note that the recruitment process will be free of charge.
