Kongasis County Member of Parliament Hon. Kapyagon Brian Besta has renewed calls for urgent government intervention to address rising insecurity in Bukwo District following a fresh attack on a 73-year-old woman and the ambush of a health worker.
Speaking in Parliament today, Tuesday, the legislator told lawmakers that insecurity in the district had persisted despite raising the matter in the House about two weeks ago.

Hon. Kapyagon reported that last week, a group of unidentified assailants allegedly destroyed a building belonging to a 73-year-old woman, while another attack occurred yesterday when a health worker only identified as Cosmas was reportedly ambushed and cut by unknown assailants while returning from the hospital.
The health worker is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Mbale.
The legislator appealed to the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Inspector General of Police to urgently deploy security personnel and introduce night patrols to protect residents from further attacks.

In a subsequent message to the people of Bukwo, Hon. Kapyagon urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movements at night and report suspicious individuals to local leaders or the police.
He maintained that urgent security intervention was necessary to restore public confidence and prevent further attacks on residents.

The renewed appeal places pressure on security authorities to investigate the reported incidents, identify those responsible and strengthen security operations in Bukwo District.

Residents are now looking to government and security agencies for swift action to protect lives and property.
