MBALE CITY — The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) examinations have commenced at Nakaloke Senior Secondary School, with 498 out of 499 registered candidates reporting for the first paper, according to the Assistant Resident City Commissioner (ARCC) of Mbale City, Alfred Chebet.

Chebet, who visited the school on Monday to monitor the start of the examinations, revealed that one candidate was absent after reportedly getting married and becoming pregnant, leaving her unable to sit the examinations.

The examinations also experienced a 20-minute delay after two examination papers were found missing, forcing school authorities to borrow extra copies from neighbouring schools to enable candidates to proceed.

Despite the initial challenges, Chebet said the examination environment remained calm, with candidates proceeding with their Mathematics Paper One as scheduled.

The candidates were expected to sit Chemistry Paper One in the afternoon.

Chebet wished the candidates good health and success, urging them to remain focused as they undertake their national examinations.

He also expressed hope that the candidates would complete their examinations successfully despite the challenges encountered at the start.

A total of 503,055 candidates have registered for this year’s Uganda National Examinations Board examinations, marking an important milestone for learners as they prepare to complete their secondary education.
