SACCO leaders in Bukwo District have been trained on the Parish Development Model recovery process, governance and grievance redress.

The capacity building was held yesterday at Bukwo District Council Hall .

Agricultural Officer from Kapchorwa, Mr. Manda Jimmy urged parishes to own PDM money and ensure all eligible people benefit. He warned that SACCO leaders who embezzled 37 million shillings through fake IDs and family favoritism will face severe punishment.

Senior Inspector from the Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Kolyabu Stephen also told SACCOs that have finished disbursing funds to declare the balance to the PDM Focal Person. He urged 2023 beneficiaries to refund loans to the SACCO account to qualify for an additional 2 million shillings. 

He noted that every PDM loan includes 250,000 shillings for processing.

Success stories were also shared. Mr. Chemutai Patrick of Kapsukwar used 900,000 shillings to buy sheep that have now grown to twenty. And Mr. Rongeso Patrick turned 700,000 shillings into a profitable sheep enterprise.  Leaders say proper use of PDM money can transform households in Bukwo
