BUKWO, Friday, July 31, 2026: The outgoing District Community Development Officer (DCDO) for Bukwo District, Ben Sakajja, has reflected on his long journey in public service, describing his retirement as a historic milestone in his life.

Speaking during his retirement ceremony held at the Bukwo District Council Hall on Friday, Sakajja expressed gratitude to district leaders, colleagues, friends, and family members who attended the event to celebrate his years of dedicated service.

The function was attended by the Resident District Commissioner, the Chief Administrative Officer, the Speaker of the District Council, the Bukwo District Vice Chairperson LC5, members of the District Executive Committee, district technical staff, and Community Development Officers from across the Sebei sub-region, including delegations from Kapchorwa District.

In his remarks, Sakajja recalled the hardships he endured during his school days, saying he walked long distances from Amanang Primary School to Sabiny College for six years because there was no transport available at the time. He invited former classmates who shared the same experience to stand, describing those years as a testament to resilience and determination.

Sakajja also took time to recognize members of his family, paying tribute to his late father, Ambassador Sakajja, who served as Uganda’s Ambassador to Russia before passing away in 2011 while on duty. He thanked his mother, who attended the ceremony, for her unwavering support and acknowledged that she has remained a source of strength throughout his life.

The retirement ceremony celebrated Sakajja’s contribution to community development and public service in Bukwo District, with leaders and colleagues commending his dedication and commitment to improving the welfare of communities during his years in office.
