BUKWO/KWEEN DISTRICTS — Soy County Member of Parliament Isaac Maikut Malinga has asked the Ministry of Health to urgently inspect Girigi Health Centre III in Kween District following reports of extensive cracks in the facility’s main building.

Raising a matter of national importance in Parliament, Malinga warned that the cracks, which reportedly stretch from the foundation across the walls, pose a potential risk to the health facility serving communities from several sub-counties and neighbouring districts.

The legislator said the health centre operates in a single-unit building that accommodates essential services for residents of Girigi and Sundet sub-counties, as well as communities from neighbouring Amudat and Bukwo districts.

Malinga appealed to the Ministry of Health to constitute a technical team to assess the condition of the structure and establish the extent of the damage.

He further revealed that Kween District authorities had already written to the relevant offices regarding the matter but were reportedly pushed to 2027, prompting him to seek urgent intervention before the situation deteriorates.

The MP urged the government to consider allocating funds for the rehabilitation or replacement of the building, depending on the findings of the technical assessment.

He warned that delays in addressing the structural concerns could expose patients, health workers and other users of the facility to potential danger.

The Ministry of Health is now being asked to investigate the concerns and consider appropriate measures to safeguard service delivery at Girigi Health Centre III.
