Bukwo District LC5 Chairperson has announced the launch of a district-wide assessment of the ongoing drought, which has severely affected crops and livestock. He said sub-county committees and agricultural extension workers will register affected farmers, and the findings will be submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister to seek emergency relief support.
He urged residents to provide accurate information during the registration exercise and said farmers will be advised to plant short-maturing crops once the rains return.

On the Parish Development Model (PDM), the LC5 Chairperson confirmed that seven suspects accused of illegally withdrawing SACCO funds have been remanded to Luzira Prison. He warned the public not to give money to anyone claiming they can secure the suspects’ release, saying the law will take its course.
He added that government will continue disbursing PDM funds while recovering money from those who misused the programme.
