Kong’asis County Member of Parliament Hon. Kapyagon Brian Besta has raised concern over a series of armed attacks and ambushes allegedly targeting residents and businesses in the constituency.

Speaking in Parliament today, Kapyagon said a notorious group had recently emerged in the area, with several people reportedly attacked and one person losing their life.

The MP told Parliament that the attackers are taking advantage of Kong’asis County’s location along the Uganda-Kenya border, allegedly crossing into the constituency and carrying out attacks before retreating.

He cited the recent attack on a resident identified as Bottom, who he said was attacked at around 7 p.m., brutally cut and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Kapyagon appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to intervene by deploying additional Uganda Police Force personnel to strengthen security in the constituency.

He also called on the Ministry of Energy to increase the installation of solar streetlights, arguing that improved lighting would help enhance security, particularly in trading centres.

The MP urged government to treat the situation as urgent to prevent further loss of lives and protect residents and businesses in Kong’asis County.
