Bukwo Resident District Commissioner Mr. George Owanyi led a pre-dawn operation in Mutushet sub-county, resulting in the arrest of 9 Sacco leaders accused of mismanaging parish Development Model funds.

The operation, which started around 4:00AM , targeted leaders of Saccos in Mutushet subcounty following complaints from beneficiaries who reported delays and irregularities in receiving PDM Funds.

Speaking to radio9fm this morning after arrests, RDC Owanyi said preliminary investigations pointed to alleged embezzlement and diversion of Shs 220 million for phase 7 and 8 meant for their parishes between 11 and 23 of may .

Owanyi says these sacco leaders connived with the few technical staff and management staff of pride bank in mbale ,decided to access funds without due process and divided among themselves.

The nine suspects are being held at Bukwo central police station as investigations continue

The RDC warned that anyone found misusing PDM money will face the full force of the law, and he is urging residents to report any further irregularities.
